Aeolian, a field manual of the breath

What we collect

Nothing leaves your device. Aeolian has no backend and does not operate servers that receive your data. We do not collect names, emails, accounts, locations, or usage analytics.

What the app stores on your device

• Your settings and practice history (streaks, session counts, preferences, optional mood check-ins) are saved locally in your device's app storage. They are used only to show your own progress, and they never leave your device.
• You can export a backup file at any time; that file is created and controlled entirely by you.

Apple Health (optional, iOS app)

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Aeolian reads your recent heart rate and heart-rate variability to show how a breathing session affected you. This data is read on your device, shown to you, and not transmitted or stored by us. Aeolian does not write anything to Apple Health. You can revoke access anytime in the iOS Health app.

Camera (Pulse tool)

The optional Pulse tool estimates your heart rate from your fingertip using the camera. Video is processed live on your device to read the pulse signal, it is never recorded, saved, or transmitted, and no image ever leaves your device.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily practice reminder, it is scheduled as a local notification on your device. No server is involved and we do not know whether or when it fires.

Third parties

Aeolian includes no advertising and no analytics or tracking SDKs. On iOS, the app may ask the operating system to show Apple's own "rate this app" prompt; that interaction is handled by Apple, and no rating data is sent to us. The web version is served by our hosting provider, which may keep standard, non-identifying server request logs as part of normal operation.

Children

Aeolian is a general-audience wellness and education tool, not directed at children under 13. Its optional Family mode is a content-curation setting for supervised use and does not change the fact that no personal data is collected.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives only on your device, deleting the app (or clearing the browser's site data) permanently removes it. There is nothing for us to delete on our end.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
